The Foxx Den Initiative was built to help close that gap.
TFDI brings practical business education, tools, community, digital support and guided development together into one flexible system that can support people from their earliest idea through to running and developing a real business.
Rather than prescribing one rigid programme, we help people understand where they are, identify what they actually need and build a route that reflects their circumstances, ambitions and resources.
We are not asking organisations to fund another course library.
We want to work with partners who are trying to create practical, sustainable routes into entrepreneurship, self-employment and small business development.
TFDI can complement existing local business, employment, skills and enterprise programmes by providing:
- accessible business education in plain English
- practical templates, tools and resources
- guided pathways based on individual starting points
- ongoing community and peer support
- live workshops, calls and practical problem-solving
- digital, website and technology support
- AI and automation guidance for modern small businesses
- support that continues beyond the initial programme or workshop
This can be delivered directly to individuals, alongside existing programmes, or through funded and sponsored access for specific communities and cohorts.
The objective is not simply to help somebody start a business.
It is to help them build the knowledge, confidence and practical capability to keep moving after the initial support ends.

Partnership does not have to mean writing a cheque. Some organisations fund opportunities. Some introduce people. Some provide resources, expertise or spaces. Others help us reach the people who need support.
Fund
Fund individual TFDI 500 places, sponsor a group of places or explore support for a specific programme or cohort.
Refer
Introduce individuals, founders and businesses who could benefit from practical support, funded access or the wider TFDI ecosystem.
Contribute
Provide expertise, mentoring, products, services, facilities, technology or other practical resources that can help businesses move forward.
Amplify
Share TFDI through your organisation, newsletter, membership, community, network, events or communications channels.
Collaborate
Work with TFDI on workshops, events, local initiatives, sponsored cohorts, enterprise programmes or something entirely new.

TFDI’s matched contribution is provided through donated services, not a second cash fund. If 10 places are externally funded, TFDI commits 10 additional matched places — creating 20 supported opportunities. We will report what has been funded, what has been matched and what has been delivered.

Support does not have to be delivered one place at a time. TFDI can work with councils, employers, charities, enterprise organisations and commercial partners to create focused cohorts built around a place, sector, community or shared need.

Support a defined number of people within a town, district, county or community and build a visible local programme around them.

Create a programme around a specific sector such as trades, hospitality, retail, creative industries or professional services.

Beyond The TFDI 500
Partnership Does Not Have To Depend On Crowdfunding
Organisations can also work directly with TFDI on commissioned, funded or co-designed programmes outside the TFDI 500 campaign. If you already have a budget, target audience or business-support objective, we can explore a practical delivery model around it.
Support Is More Than Funding
No Funding? You Can Still Make A Difference.
Not every organisation has a budget available, and that should not be the end of the conversation. Access, introductions, space, expertise and visibility can be just as valuable in helping TFDI reach the right people and create more opportunities.

No Smoke And Mirrors
If support is promised, we want people to be able to see it being delivered.
TFDI is operated as a for-profit business, and we believe that makes transparency even more important. We are not presenting ourselves as a charity, and we are not asking people to assume that every pound entering the wider organisation is ring-fenced from normal business operating costs.
Instead, our commitment is simple and measurable: when a funded TFDI 500 place is provided, that place will be delivered. When TFDI commits a matched place, that matched place will be delivered too. We will openly report progress as those commitments are allocated and fulfilled.
The Den Directory
Every Business Has A Day One. This Is Theirs.
Supported businesses can have a place in The Den Directory from the beginning of their journey — even if Day One is little more than an idea, a business name or a domain.
Where participants choose to be publicly featured, their profile can evolve alongside their business, creating additional visibility while allowing supporters and partners to follow real journeys rather than only seeing carefully selected success stories.
